Focus 10

10 scriptures - one for each week of the Summer that emphasize spiritual growth, living with purpose, and making disciples. Each verse includes a brief focus to help with meditation and application. Take 10 minutes and focus on these verses; morning, noon and night.

  • June 1

    Matthew 7:24-25

    “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."

    Focus: I can build a house that can handle the storms, when I build my life on the Word. 

  • June 8

    Acts 1:8 “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

    Focus: The Spirit empowers disciples to witness boldly.

  • June 15

    Matthew 28:19–20 (The Great Commission)

    “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

    Focus: Our ultimate calling is not just to believe, but to go and make disciples.

  • June 22

    Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” 

    Focus: Disciples grow by renewing their minds to think, live, and love like Jesus.

  • June 29

    Luke 9:23 “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

    Focus: Discipleship demands daily surrender and sacrifice.

  • July 6

    Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

    Focus: My Heart sets the Rhythm for living...How am I feeding and exercising my spiritual heart?  

  • July 13 

    2 Timothy 2:2“ what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”

    Focus: Multiplication is the mark of mature discipleship.

  • July 20

    Philippians 3:12–14 “…I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own…”

    “ I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

    Focus: Growing disciples are always pressing forward.

  • July 27

    Galatians 5:22–23

    “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.”

    Focus: Disciples are recognized by Spirit-produced character.

  • August 3

    John 15:5

    “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

    Focus: Fruitful discipleship flows from abiding in Jesus.
